2016 Projects

These are some of the exercises and plans APC has completed in 2016:
Poseidon's Trident - Osceola County Mass Casualty Full-Scale Ex.

 

In March of 2016 APC in consultation with the Florida Department of Health in Osceola County executed a countywide Full-Scale Exercise to test current plans and protocols regarding an active shooter and contamination of the water system.

 

APC utilized over 250 volunteer victims and exercised a variety of functional areas. Examples of exercise agencies are below:

  • 5 DOH facilities

  • 3 primary water agencies

  • 5 local hospitals

  • 3 local dispatch centers

  • 3 LE and Fire agencies

Operation Buzz Off

 

In July of 2016, APC and RLKing Training in consultation with the Department of Health in Osceola County held a state mandated tabletop exercise aimed at educating and preparing staff about mosquito-born illnesses such as Zika. The Exercise covered multiple Core Capabilities to include:

  • Information Sharing

  • Community Preparedness

  • Operational Coordination

  • Public Health Surveillance/Epi Investigation

 

And

Consisted of 5 Modules that included:

  1. The Patient Presents

  2. Suspicion of Local Transmission

  3. The Confirmation

  4. The Neighborhood Challenges

  5. Additional County Concerns

Operation Buzz Off
Brevard County All-Hazards Preparedness Campaign

 

In the spring of 2016, APC in consultation with Brevard County Emergency Management developed the Brevard County All-Hazards Preparedness Campaign. The project served as a public awareness campaign and introduced the “What Would You Do…?” concept through a variety of preparedness activities that included:

  • A campaign logo

  • Website language updates for each of the hazards

  • Handouts/fliers for each specified hazard

  • Development of a PowerPoint presentation and supporting materials

  • Development of appropriate social media graphics of the identified hazards

  • Creation of scripts and graphics for short videos

  • Development of the ‘Pathways to Preparedness guide'

Brevard County Preparedness Campaign
Osceola County 2016 Special Needs Shelter Full-Scale Exercise

 

In June of 2016 APC in consultation with the Florida Department of Health in Osceola County executed a Special Needs Shelter Full-Scale Exercise to test current plans and protocols regarding the establishment, staffing, and equipping of emergency shelters for individuals with special and access/functional needs during a hurricane event. Some specific tasks completed include:

  • Identify and assign the appropriate staff

  • Appropriate setup of the SNS facility and equipment

  • Establish the appropriate operational areas

  • Conduct initial triage (initial assessment of prospective shelterees

  • Conduct registration and shelteree count

  • Conduct intake and assignment process

Osceola County Special Needs
City of Cocoa Preparedness Exercise

 

In July of 2016, APC in consultation with the City of Cocoa Fire Department executed a Tabletop Exercise to allow the City of Cocoa to discuss current preparedness, response and recovery protocols, plans, and procedures involving a hurricane event. Specific Modules consisted of:

  • Pre-Incident Decision Making and Alert/Notification (Pre-Landfall)

  • Incident Response (Landfall)

  • Recovery/Continued Operations (Post-Landfall)

City of Cocoa Exercise
Region 7 Mass Care/Transportation Exercise (Sub-Consultant)

 

In August of 2016, APC served as Controllers/Evaluators for Blue Skies Professional Services to conduct a two-day Tabletop Exercise that primarily focused on Mass Care and Transportation resource allocation, tracking, and assignment during a hurricane event. Modules included:

  • Pre-Landfall Coordination

  • Activation

  • Response

Region 7 Ex
Martin County Health System Hurricane Tabletop Exercise (Sub-Consultant)

 

In July of 2016, APC served as Controllers/Evaluators for Blue Skies Professional Services to conduct a Tabletop Exercise to allow Martin Health System participants to test and implement the newly developed Hurricane Plan. Modules included:

  • MHS Hurricane Plan Review

  • Hurricane Plan Phase II

  • Hurricane Plan Phase III-V

Martin County Hospital Ex
Miami-Dade Online Training Campaign

 

From September 2016 until March 2017 APC and Blue Skies Professional Services worked in conjunction with Miami-Dade Office of Emergency Management to develop  The Miami-Dade Online Training Campaign. This project consisted of developing high quality online, video, and classroom courses to train and educate volunteers, Miami-Dade County Disaster Assistance Employees, and stakeholders on processes to support disaster response and recovery activities that include the following topics/areas:

  • Points of Distribution

  • Employee Volunteer Staging Area

  • Evacuation Center Operations

  • Disaster Assistance Center

  • Damage Assessment
